Printing is divided into three stages:
Pre printing → refers to the work in the early stage of printing, generally referring to photography, design, production, typesetting, output film proofing, etc;
During printing → refers to the process of printing a finished product through a printing machine during the middle of printing;
"Post press" refers to the work in the later stage of printing, generally referring to the post processing of printed products, including gluing (film covering), UV, oil, beer, bronzing, embossing, and pasting. It is mainly used for packaging printed products.
Printing is a technology that reproduces the graphic and textual information of an original document. Its biggest feature is that it can reproduce the graphic and textual information on the original document in a large amount and economically on a variety of substrates. It can be said that the finished product can also be widely circulated and permanently stored, which is unmatched by other reproduction technologies such as film, television, and photography.
The production of printed matter generally involves five processes: the selection or design of originals, the production of originals, the drying of printing plates, printing, and post printing processing. In other words, first select or design an original suitable for printing, and then process the graphic and textual information of the original to produce an original plate (commonly referred to as a positive or negative image negative) for printing or engraving.
Then, use the original plate to produce a printing plate for printing. Finally, install the printing plate on a printing brush machine, use an ink conveying system to apply ink to the surface of the printing plate, and under pressure mechanical pressure, the ink is transferred from the printing plate to the substrate, The large number of printed sheets thus reproduced, after being processed, become a finished product suitable for various purposes.
Nowadays, people often refer to the design of originals, processing of graphic and textual information, and plate making as prepress processing, while the process of transferring ink from the printing plate to the substrate is called printing. The completion of such a printed product requires prepress processing, printing, and post-press processing.
